A relatively new
extraction process finding favor in Alberta’soil sands also promises a better fit with the characteristics of
Canada’s nuclear reactor technology.
The process,
known as Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage, can utilize lower temperature steam
than some earlier processes contemplated for nuclear extraction.
